Lounging Penguin Organization is dedicated to bringing comfort, compassion, and practical support to children and families during healthcare experiences. Through sourcing, organizing, and delivering essential supplies and thoughtful care packages, we aim to ease burdens, brighten difficult moments, and help healthcare centers create a more supportive environment for every family.

Our Mission

Lounging Penguin Organization is operated to support healthcare centers by sourcing, organizing, and delivering goods and resources that promote comfort for children and families during care.

Our Vision

Lounging Penguin Organization envisions a future in which it supports healthcare centers in addressing both practical and emotional needs, enabling every child and family to experience greater comfort and reduced stress during care.

Our Purpose

We exist to ease the experience of care by helping healthcare environments better support the emotional and practical needs of children and families. Through thoughtful resources and community-driven support, we aim to bring moments of comfort during times that can feel overwhelming.

The Reality Families Face

When children receive care, families are often focused entirely on medical needs, while emotional and practical challenges come second. Many hospitals and care centers have limited resources for non-medical support. Items that bring comfort, such as engaging toys, personal essentials, or familiar things from home, are often unavailable, hard to find, or too costly for families already under stress.

Families navigating complex or chronic conditions can also lack community, educational resources, and programs that connect them with others in similar circumstances. For children, those gaps can make a difficult experience feel more isolating. For families, the strain of finding essential items can add both emotional and financial pressure.

Comfort is not a luxury in these environments. It plays a meaningful role in reducing stress, supporting emotional well-being, and helping families navigate difficult experiences together.

Our Story

In 2026, Jonathan Olais, a clinical researcher at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, and his significant other, Bena Chen, a procurement, marketing, and advertising specialist, made a simple donation of Pokémon trading cards to the hospital. The donations team shared how difficult it had become to obtain highly requested items like those cards, and they were grateful for the contribution.

As Jonathan continued his work at the hospital, he saw the excitement on a child’s face when they received a toy, and the relief that moment brought parents and caregivers. He also noticed a gap: toys are commonly donated, while medical and comfort goods are often overlooked. Gauze, wet wipes, sanitizing wipes, diapers, pacifiers, socks, and a change of clothes are frequently needed, and buying them adds another layer of stress.

Jonathan and Bena envisioned an organization dedicated to both essential supplies and small comforts. Inspired by penguins, animals known for protecting and caring for one another in difficult environments, they founded Lounging Penguin Organization in California in 2026.

What began as a simple donation became a mission to ease burdens so families can focus on the health, healing, and well-being of their loved ones.
